Background

In this exclusive interview, we dive into the journey of NSI, exploring his beginnings in music, exciting upcoming events at Coya and Terra Solis, and the creative process behind his latest productions.

How did you get into DJing and producing? Where do you think it all started for you?

That was a few decades ago. Honestly, I don’t have a special story. I just started doing parties at home for my friends. Over time, you think you’re good enough to approach a venue and say, “Hi, I’m a DJ.” That’s how it began for me—just at home parties.

Do you remember your first major gig, the one where you got paid?

Yes, I was around 19 years old. I went to a club and met the owner. I told him I wanted to play there. He said, “Come back in a couple of years.” I insisted I could fill the place with my friends. He agreed to let me play for an hour if I did. After that, he liked me and said, “From tomorrow, you start getting paid.” And that was it!

Let’s talk about Coya. You’re doing a lot there right now. How are the nights going?

Coya is my home. We have big plans for this season. We host “Bloom” every Tuesday, an Afro house party, and it’s one of our best events. On Saturdays, we have a party called “If You Know, You Know,” which features hip-hop and R&B. It’s intense every Saturday! And Sundays are reserved for our more underground event, “Ritual,” which features guest DJs. We’re launching a new party called “Muse” on Thursdays, similar to “Ritual.” It’s going to be a great experience for everyone.

I can’t wait to see how that turns out. Now, let’s talk about Terra Solis. It’s happening on the 28th with Sona and Birds of Mind performing. How’s it been working with them, and what are you doing to prepare for the event?

I’ve been with Terra Solis since last season. The stage is massive, similar to a Tomorrowland experience. I’m playing on September 28th with Birds of Mind and Sona, and I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge! I usually play house, tech house, and indie, sometimes melodic techno, but softer tracks since I typically do opening acts.

I also saw you were at Tomorrowland. How was that experience?

Tomorrowland is a unique experience. I was there in 2019, and playing there as a DJ was indescribable. Every DJ should have the chance to play there at least once.

Now, I know you mentioned you’ve taken a bit of a break from production. What’s happening on that front now?

I started producing during the pandemic. I released a couple of tracks initially, then put it aside. This season, I have several tracks ready to release.

Do you have a record label in mind for those releases?

I can’t say just yet.

Lastly, what are your future plans? Any upcoming gigs or tours you’d like to share?

I’m still working with Coya and Terra Solis. I’ve got a lot in the pipeline with music production too.
